  14. <p>    AILING. Walter ("Red") Barber, 84, pioneering baseball
  15. broadcaster and radio personality; from an intestinal blockage,
  16. in Tallahassee, Florida. Barber, who called play-by-play for the
  17. Brooklyn Dodgers from 1939 to '53 and the Yankees from 1953 to
  18. '66, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1978. He
  19. popularized the phrase "in the catbird seat," to describe a team
  20. sitting on a big lead.
